On the Second Day 'til Christ-mas, My True Love gave to me 12 Houses, Holy; 11 Stars a-Falling; 10 Golden Apples; 9 Apothecary Bottles; 8 Perfect Cubes; 7 Rocks, a-Rolling; 6 Spiraling Seashells; 5 Golden Toooooooooooooooooes... 4 Living Creatures; 3 Books, Opened, And Two Heavenly Horses, swimming like fishes...(This one is part of a larger 'rose window'...) (This is a representation of 'Jupiter' in Pisces...) Now, listen to this, in regard to our 'Venus'... Ovid, Fasti 2. 458 ff (trans.Boyle) (Roman poetry C1st B.C. to C1st A.D.) : "Piscis, heaven’s horses. They say that you and your brother (for your stars gleam together) ferried two gods on your backs. Once Dione [Aphrodite], in flight from terrible Typhon (when Jupiter [Zeus] armed in heaven’s defence), reached the Euphrates with tiny Cupidos [Eros] in tow and sat by the hem of Palestine’s stream. Poplars and reeds dominated the tops of the banks; willows, too, offered hope of concealment. While she hid, the wood roared with wind. She pales with fear, and believes a hostile band approaches. As she clutched son to breast, she cries: ‘To the rescue, Nymphae, and bring help to two divinities.’ No delay; she leapt. Twin fish went underneath them; for which, you see, the present stars are named. Hence timid Syrians think it wrong to serve up this species; they defile no mouths with fish."www.theoi.com/Ther/Ikhthyes.htmlWell, how do you like that...? Sometimes, I guess, you just have to take that 'leap of Faith,'- in other words... jump... 'By the hem of Palestine's stream' they sat... and that reminds me of something else... By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. Upon the willows in the midst of it We hung our harps. For there our captors demanded of us songs, and our tormentors mirth, saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion."… How can we sing the LORD'S song In a foreign land?…Psalm 137:1-4

Pseudo-Hyginus, Fabulae 197 (trans. Grant) (Roman mythographer C2nd A.D.) : "Venus [Ashtarte]. Into the Euphrates River an egg of wonderful size is said to have fallen, which the fish rolled to the bank. Doves sat on it, and when it was heated, it hatched out Venus [Aphrodite], who was later called the Syrian goddess [Ashtarte]. Since she excelled the rest in justice and uprightness, by a favour granted by Jove [Zeus], the fish were put among the number of the stars, and because of this the Syrians do not eat fish or doves, considering them as gods."www.theoi.com/Ther/Ikhthyes.htmlSo, was it an 'egg'shell, or a 'sea'shell... or both...? Now, let's look at this One again... These Fishes probably developed into Aphros and Bythos, the fish-tailed Ikhthyokentauroi (Sea-Centaurs) of late classical art, which are shown bringing Aphrodite ashore following her sea-birth.And, of course, there is more to the number Two; it represents, chiefly, the 'Duality' into which Venus has fallen... light and dark... life and death... night and day... ...Good and Evil, the fruits of which hang from a single Tree... Hmmmmm... But... but... I hear Roman Cavalry choirs singing... I really do...

Well, I guess it's time to 'wrap this one up,' and wait... with 'shining eyes' and open hearts for Christ-mas morning... And so... On that new-born Christmas morning, My True Love gave to me 12 Houses, Holy; 11 Stars a-Falling; 10 Golden Apples; 9 Apothecary Bottles; 8 Perfect Cubes; 7 Rocks, a-Rolling; 6 Spiraling Seashells; 5 Golden Toooooooooooooooooes... 4 Living Creatures; 3 Books, Opened; 2 Heavenly Horses, And One Red Rooster crowing, for the Golden Dawn...The 'dog-faces' seem strange on a 'serpent,' don't you think? But remember Sirius...? The 'dog star'... coincidentally... The above images are known as 'amulets'... kind of 'magical' representations said to bring the bearer health and good fortune... which means that... Abracadabra is 'special Magic'... Good juju... A 'perfect' Christ-mas gift, I would think... A little bit of Christ-mas Magic.

You think I'm kidding, don't you...? How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a children's story by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel written in rhymed verse with illustrations by the author. It was published as a book by Random House in 1957...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_the_Grinch_Stole_Christmas! Well, how do you like that? Look at this... "New Pope Takes Over," it says... on November 10, 1958... So, as I said, the part of the 'Grinch' in our little 'story' is going to be played by His Most 'Holy Mackerel'... I mean, Catfish... lololol... after all, that is a 'fish hat' that the Pope likes to wear. I wonder why...? Turns out he looooooves Yom Kippers... no kidding... But I digress... The storyline of the now-famous children's story is a parallel for another story; this one is for big kids, I'm afraid, and while it does have a few moments of nail-biting action, the ending seems to be... hopeful. The first thing that you should bear in mind is that, while our protagonist, 'The Grinch' dresses himself in a 'Santa suit' and passes himself off as 'Santa,'- he isn't. You know it, and I know it... and his poor dog knows it, too. So, try to remember, kids... the grouchy man in the red coat is no Saint... Nick, or otherwise... He just needs for you to believe it, while he takes away your 'goodies'... And your Joy in the morning. We'll continue...

This is a brief synopsis of the story... The Grinch is a bitter, grouchy, cave-dwelling creature with a heart "two sizes too small" who lives on snowy Mount Crumpit, a steep high mountain just north of Whoville, home of the merry and warm-hearted Whos. His only companion is his unloved, but loyal dog, Max. From his perch high atop, the Grinch can hear the noisy Christmas festivities that take place in Whoville. Annoyed, he decides to stop Christmas from coming by stealing their presents, trees, and food for their Christmas feast. He crudely disguises himself as Santa Claus, and forces poor Max, disguised as a reindeer (by tying an antler from a deer plaque on the wall to his head), to drag a sleigh to Whoville, where he slides down the chimney and steals all of the Whos' Christmas presents, the Christmas tree, and the log for their fire. (He is briefly interrupted in his burglary by Cindy Lou, a little Who girl, but concocts a crafty lie to effect his escape from her home.) The Grinch then takes his sleigh to the top of Mount Crumpit, and prepares to dump all of the presents into the abyss. As dawn breaks, he expects to hear the Whos' bitter and sorrowful cries, but is confused to hear them singing a joyous Christmas song instead. He puzzles for a moment until it dawns upon him that perhaps Christmas is more than presents and feasting: "Maybe Christmas, he thought, means a little bit more." The Grinch's shrunken heart suddenly grows three sizes larger. The reformed Grinch returns all of the Whos' presents and trimmings and is warmly invited to the Whos' feast, where he has the honor of carving the Roast Beast.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_the_Grinch_Stole_Christmas! Well, goodness... let's begin with that first line, shall we? A cave-dwelling creature, eh? Caves are said to be 'sacred' places... many of the 'gods' are said to have been 'born' in caves, or, in other words, to have come from underground, through a cave system... so... he is at least (to his own way of thinking) identified as a 'god,' or at least a 'Hermit,' who is in the Cave trying to find 'God' on his own turf, so to speak... and quite 'independent' of 'humanity,' on top of his mountain (or seven), but... With a heart two sizes too small... Evidently, something's missing. Things are less than Perfect for the 'King of the Hill' ...

So... paraphrased a bit... From his perch high atop the 'mountain' (where the sons of Seth, or the 'Watchers,' lived, coincidentally), the Grinch can hear the noisy Christmas festivities that take place in Whoville (he knows the 'story' told in their festive 'mystery plays' that point forward to a future Golden Day, when a 'Sun' is born, and he is annoyed, mainly, because he knows that he is not the One that stories are about... but he wants to be). Annoyed, he decides to stop Christmas from coming (if it can't be me, it won't be anybody... you see...) by stealing their presents, trees, and food for their Christmas feast (All of the reasons for celebrating). He crudely disguises himself as Santa Claus (ahem... except, he does have some pretty nice frocks, so to speak...), and forces poor Max (I expect that he is something like Marvin the Martian's faithful K-9), disguised as a reindeer (by tying an antler from a deer plaque on the wall to his head), to drag a sleigh to Whoville, where he slides down the chimney and steals all of the Whos' Christmas presents, the Christmas tree, and the log for their fire... He took their 'goodies,' in other words... and with them, he thought, their Hope... He sure knows how to 'stuff a chimney'... In case you're interested...

Merry Christmas my love. *kisses & squeezy squeezy hugs* You sound surprised... *snork*... but, I think we've gone over all of that before, if I'm not mistaken. And, if I'm not mistaken, you sounded every bit as 'impressed' then, as you do now... I know that you prefer the version with the 'lion head,' but in all fairness, I don't think that's Abraxas... that's Chnoubis... I should thank you for making a 'special holiday appearance' here on my little forum... it's so seldom that you like to stop by, or add anything to the 'offerings' here... I do miss you, but I guess that I've gotten used to the lack of response, in general, and I'm sure that your insights are better served elsewhere. I never could do you Justice, really... but I always enjoyed the company. You really can be a lot of fun, when you want to be... I should have done a comedy forum... or a dating site, maybe... :}
