A Rose by Any Other Name... or, what's your sign, baby?

I will start this thread with an epiphany that I had, concerning 'names' and the 'Ineffable Name,' and the personal symbolism that 'adopted me,' as it were (I really prefer to think that we 'found each other'); I think that it would be fair to say that we all have a certain symbol that we take fairly personally, whatever it may be, and we all have our own personal reasons for having chosen it, or vice versa...
Let me start with a line that I have run through my mind for years now... contemplating it... and I can tell you that I finally think that I understand it, more or less; needless to say, almost every thought can bear some expansion, but we can certainly head in the right direction, at least... if we've got a good compass.
3And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, which call you by your name, am the God of Israel. 4: For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel my elect, I have even called you by your name: I have surnamed you, though you have not known me. 5: I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded you, though you have not known me: … Isaiah, chapter 45
What, then, is that 'surname?' What is it? If we are named after Him, and His Name is represented by a symbol, then this name of ours must also be a symbol that identifies us with Him in the closest way possible... at least, on one 'level,' for we know that there is always more than one, don't we...? On another level, that of the Word, my 'surname' does actually also reflect my 'father,' if you will... it translates, very literally, to (feminine prefix for) the Supreme Intelligence. Serendipitous, I thought... even though, I can claim no such thing as yet, it gives me something to work for... lol...
I hope that the image that I tried to post will appear... you'll see why. My own symbol appears with the more familiar Masonic symbols here, before a Lodge... Grand Lodge... GL... which also, in Hebrew, means 'mountain,' coincidentally, I'm sure... lol... do you see it there? It is the Cross of Lorraine... the symbol is not at all new, and there are certainly reasons why this symbol should appear among the others.
To begin with, assuming that the 'Ineffable Name' of 'God' consists of one (or more) symbols has a fair basis in reason... we know that John Dee spent a good deal of time on an 'angelic language' that consisted entirely of symbols, and that much of the 'work' done by certain parties is done by means of these symbols, and the accurate representation of them in certain ritualistic circumstances. Certainly, there is a reason for that... and while it may be a bit too much to ask (for the time being, at least) to know the symbol for the actual 'Ineffable Name' (since they say that whoever possesses it possesses the 'power of God,' isn't that right? I think so), we can contemplate our own 'surnames,' and the power that comes with them, through identification with their Source, or Father...

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. Revelation 2:17 (what serendipity, yes? 2, and 17 which is 1+7=8... lol... 8; 2+8=10, which stands for 'God'... don't you love it?) I now believe that that new name may be a symbol, after all... and stones represent people, so what does a 'white stone' represent here? Perhaps a 'finished ashlar,' under the circumstances... so much 'naming' going on (which reminds me of a story in Genesis that has to do with 'naming' that may be relevant, but needs to wait right now)... it must be important.
The symbol that represents my 'self' here is the Cross of Lorraine... and, as you know, this is the double-barred (Barre... lol) cross, whose meaning seems to have been mysterious to most since its conception, if you Will... the Templars were familiar with it, or at least the concept, I am certain, and indeed... it is quite old.
“The arms of Jesus are the Cross of Lorraine,
Both the blood in the artery and the blood in the vein,
Both the source of grace and the clear fountaine;
The arms of Satan are the Cross of Lorraine,
And the same artery and the same vein,
And the same blood and the troubled fountaine.” Charles Peguy
As to the specific symbolism, and why it connects me to my 'Father,' we can start with the cross, which is a very old symbol, everywhere, but not at all Christ-ian in nature, really... it also was 'adopted,' I'm afraid... and now good churchmembers everywhere contemplate it in new ways, but not, perhaps, all ways... lol...
The Greek Cross was one of the original forms used by Christians. (The Latin cross was not in popular usage until the eighth and ninth centuries.) Before Christianity, the Greek cross was an emblem of Hecate as the Goddess of Crossroads. The vertical was male, the horizontal was female - making it a plus sign of one-plus-the-other.
Another cross with sun imagery is the Coptic Cross. This was originally a sun symbol, with the heaven in the center supported by four pillars in each direction to uphold the sky. Coptic Christians later added the four nails to identify Christ with the heavenly diety, and to suggest the blood on the nails had spread to the four corners of the world.
Wotan's Cross reflects similar symbolism, with the cross and circle as a symbol of cosmic union. The circle also stood for the earth horizon, with the four directions meeting at the center. It was also called the Sun Cross for the sun (cross) embraced by heaven (circle). The often repeated symbolism is that of a deity in the middle of a four-way heaven.
Cross Patee was popular in medieval heraldry. It was a combination of the Christian (Greek) cross and Wotan's. This cross, also known as Cross Formee, was often shown as the insignia of the god Frey.
A similar appearing cross is the Maltese Cross, originallly from the island of Malta, home of one of the world's oldest Goddess temples. This design directs attention to the center, possibly to indicate earth's geographical center, omphalos, and site of the Goddess's chief temple.

So, one of the original symbols for 'God' seems to have been the cross... which, to me, also represents the very act of creation, as shown by the expansion from the center point of the very four directions and elements, in its simplest explanation; the quaternary, and the 'original' act of creation. What, then, is really represented within the 'double cross' of the Cross of Lorraine, with its representation of 'eight,' and not 'four?' What is represented by the 'eighth day?' What... but that which the Masters of all ages, including that old mystic Nicholas Von Flue, have looked forward to... the 're-creation' of the heavens and the earth,- indeed, the re-creation of the very 'World Soul,' with the advent of that New Kingdom, for which all men labor, and the appearance of the one 'true man.'
The two arms of this cross are said to represent this... creation and destruction (or re-creation)... and that 'God' (or Grace, as I like to think) is that which fills the space between... much as our own lives, if we contemplate it very long. And so I have been 'surnamed'... with a symbol that represents everything about 'God' that I need to 'know' in order to understand that which I am patterned after...
Now, you are free to critique, add commentary and/or personal ruminations to mine, and really... I would sooooo look forward to that...
Really.
And, hey... what's your sign, baby?
