I'd like to make a place here somewhere on which I can deposit information relating to the future, not only of Philosophy, but our Philosophers, so to speak... and those persons that have been 'delegated' to give us their 'visions' of the future. This should be fun... since it relates to our 'fortune teller' in the 'Freak Show,' and you, and I, and PT Barnum all know how much people love to have their palms read... if not greased... lol... and goodness knows there's been plenty of that ... But on the other hand... there is something to be said for forewarned... And in that Spirit, we should begin with a figure that may not be generally known as far as 'prophets' go, since She is not regarded as a 'prophet' at all, but rather, a Sybil... which is something else, evidently. I found this information to be somewhat enlightening, and so I couldn't help sharing it with you here. There are other 'Sybils,' obviously, but this particular version seems to tie itself in rather neatly with the idea of an Oracle, and the Ark of the Covenant, which subject I need to get back to on another thread, but this will probably all connect at some point... I wouldn't be at all surprised, at least... In the Jewish sense of persons who felt themselves spiritually impelled to speak to the people in the name of God, prophets were unknown to the ancient Greeks and Romans, among whom prophecy was limited to the deliverances of the sibyls (σίβυλλαι). The ancient sources differ as to the number and nativity of these sibyls. Plato speaks of only one sibyl, while Aristotle and Aristophanes mention several, and Varro (in Lactantius, "Divinarum Institutionum," i. 6) enumerates ten, including a number from the East. The most interesting list from the Jewish point of view, however, is that of Pausanias, who enumerates the following four sibyls (x. 12): the Libyan sibyl; Herophile, the sibyl of Marpessus or Erythræ (said to have prophesied both in Asia Minor and at Delphi, and therefore frequently mentioned under various other names); Demo of Cumæ, the chief sibyl of Roman history; and the Hebrew sibyl, Sabbe of Palestine (known also as the Babylonian or Egyptian sibyl). A late source, the "Chronicon Paschale," which was composed in the sixth century of the common era, enumerates twelve sibyls (ed. Bonn, 108, p. 201), and expressly terms one of them the "Hebrew" sibyl, the same designation being used by Suidas and other late authors.
The scanty references in these ancient sources clearly imply that the sibyls were native to the East; and this is confirmed by their common designation. Although Varro gives a Greek etymology for the word (σιός = θεός + βούλλα, whence σίβυλλα = θεοβούλη, "the counsel of god"), and modern philologists derive it from an ancient Italian dialect (see "Rheinisches Museum," 1. 110 et seq.), the arguments are not convincing. Since Lactantius expressly says (l.c.) that the sibyl is a native of Babylon, the name is probably Semitic in origin. The word may be resolved into the two components "sib" + "il," thus denoting "the ancient of god" (Krauss, in "Byzantinische Zeit." xi. 122), especially as great age is one of the sibylline characteristics. The Hebrew sibyl is identical, moreover, according to Pausanias and Suidas (s.v. Σίβυλλa), with the sibyl of Babylon, and the name "Sabbe" consequently represents the Aramaic "saba " (= "old"), inasmuch as the sibyl is the personification of old age. Suidas gives the form "Sambethe" instead of "Sabbe"; this is to be explained by the fact that the Hebrew sibyl was supposed in the Byzantine period to be mentioned in the Biblical list of nations, and that hence "Seba" and "Sabtechah" (Gen. x. 7 and I Chron. i. 9) came to be, in slightly Hellenized forms, two equivalent designations for the Hebrew sibyl (Krauss, l.c.).
The connection of the sibyl with Biblical personages appears also in a statement found in the extant collection of the Sibylline Books to the effect that she asserted herself to belong to the sixth generation of man and to be descended from Noah (i. 298), while in another passage she termed herself a virgin cf the blood of Noah (iii. 827). On account of these statements the Erythræan pagan sibyl was likewise said to be descended from the sixth generation after the Flood (Eusebius, "Constantini Oratio ad S. Coetum," xviii.). The Hebrew sibyl was alleged also to have been the wife of one of Noah's sons, and consequently to have been saved in the ark (Plato's "Phædrus," p. 244b, note). It was generally said, however, and with greater show of right, that she belonged to the race of the blessed Noah (prologue to the Sibyllines), which statement agrees with her names Saba and Sambethe. Epiphanius regarded her as the daughter of Noah himself, or even of Eve ("Adversus Hæreses," vi., xxvi. 1). The Jewish sibyl, however, deliberately falsified her genealogy, for it was an accepted tradition that the old pagan sibyl was a native of Babylon, while the Jewish sibyl was held to be the daughter of the ancient Chaldean historian Berosus (pseudo-Justin, "Cohort. ad Græcos," xxxvii.; comp. Pausanias, x. 12; Moses of Chorene, 1. 6). The Jewish sibyl, then, was regarded as a very ancient personage who perpetuated the wisdom of the past, and the traditions concerning her may consequently be compared with the Jewish legends of Enoch and of Asher's daughter Serah.
All these legends arose after the ascription of Jewish prophecies to the sibyl. The Hellenistic Jews, especially those of Alexandria, were in conformity with the spirit of their time when they clothed their sayings in Gentile garb, for only thus could they hope to gain an audience. For the sibylline prophecies were intended primarily for the pagans, although the intention was rather to convict them of sin and to glorify Judaism by contrast with them than to convert them. The medium of verse was chosen, moreover, as being the commonly accepted vehicle of prophecy at Delphi, as well as in the oracles of Orpheus and Cassandra, in the magic papyri, and especially of the pagan sibyl. But the clumsy hexameters and the awkward sentences did not satisfy the refined tastes of the Greco-Roman world, and Heraclitus, the sage of Ephesus, himself declared that the sibyl uttered unrimed and uncouth words with raving mouth, even though her broken speech was regarded as the stammering of ecstasy, since she was merely the frail vessel of the divine spirit. In the extant collection of the Jewish oracles the sibyl often complains that she is exhausted by the mighty spirit of the Lord, but that she is compelled by His command to continue her utterances. She is, however, fully conscious of her divine mission, which is to be "the light of the heathen," "preparing the path for man." She circulates the divine code of ethics, and explains the ancient history of the Jews to the Gentiles, whom she familiarizes with monotheism, retaining some of the concepts of Greek mythology merely to lend some degree of familiarity to her instruction. Well, this looks like a good place to continue my posts regarding the Mayan Prophecies, which include such topics as The Prophecy Related to
Venus, the Prophecy Related to the Moon, The Prophecy of a New 'Enlightenment,' the Prophecy of Cosmic Consciousness, The Prophecy of Changes to the Earth's Magnetic Field, the Prophecies of Evolution and Genetics, the Prophecy of Time, the Prophecy of the Return of a Supreme Being, and... the Prophecy that We Are the Prophecy... among other things. And maybe that last one or two are the ones that we should be 'remembering' right now... Let me continue the quote from the "Prophecy of Recovered Memory"... The prophecy speaks of a time in the earliest days of human evolution and development, when people related to Nature with a very different attitude to the one prevalent today... (it) implies that civilization is both developed and sustained more by right thinking, a certain kind of attitude and knowledge, than by the constructs of science and technology, and that the instinct and intuition that informed our knowledge has been lost, or at least obscured. The good news is that such knowledge is recoverable, not just as an idea or a theory, but as an experience that supports a way of life.
This quest for the recovery of a special kind of knowledge is shared by most religions... In Christian tradition, this sense of lack is referred to as 'original sin,' causing an inherent seperation from God.

In connection with this prophecy, let us look at another figure that seems to 'relate' to what we are talking about here... after all, she is said to be 'returning,' something like our 'memory of her,' perhaps... Two young men went out to hunt in the Black Hills of South Dakota...
Along the way, a beautiful young woman dressed in white appeared to the warriors and said, "Return to your people and tell them I am coming." This holy woman presented the Lakota people with the sacred pipe which showed how all things were connected. She taught the Lakota people the mysteries of the earth. She taught them to pray and follow the proper path while on earth. As the woman left the tribe, she rolled upon the earth four times, changing color each time, and finally turning into a white buffalo calf. Then she disappeared. Almost at the same time as her leaving, great herds of buffalo could be seen surrounding the camps. It is said that after that day, the Lakota honored their pipe, and buffalo were plentiful.
This story of the White Buffalo Calf Woman has immense importance to the Lakota and many other tribes...

Nisan 1, 5775 is the first day of the Jewish ecclesiastical year, the day when God began to give His laws to them. In 5775/2015, Nisan 1 will be on the Sabbath, beginning at the first hour of darkness on the day of the solar eclipse that SPLITs the Tetrad and the Old/New Worlds.
This day is known as Shabbat HaChodesh. Now, the Maya have another prophecy, regarding the moon, and this is important because the Moon has something of a 'split personality,'- a 'dark side,' that the Maya were definitely aware of, and the prophecy seems to indicate that either side might become more 'pronounced,' if you Will... and if you are paying attention to the things being 'pronounced,' you will see that the 'dark side of the moon' is very 'active' in the current 'meme.' ...the Quiche Maya believed the Moon to be unpredictable, hard to understand, promiscuous and deceitful, and as such, was either the wife or mother of the Sun. Various other titles were given to her such as 'Our Mother,' 'Our Grandmother,' and 'The Lady.'And, for all of her 'inconstancies,' she was also responsible for 'birth,' and weaving... they ascribed a very 'human' nature to the Moon, which is very important and (they say) "need(s) to be considered independently of the complex mathematical and astronomical data that obscure the goddess' humanity." And, that gives me (at least) a new perspective on 'the dark side of the Moon,' and just why that is being 'emphasized,'- if you see what I mean. In 'summary' to the chapter, the authors have this to say: The prophecy, associated with the cycles of the Moon's phases in the final katun ending in 2012, carry a message that is less than positive. The Moon's own character of deceitfulness, promiscuity and unpredictability, suggests events that will challenge us. The Moon's association with water implies periods of disastrously destructive flooding. The familiar image of the 'man in the moon' is seen by the Maya as 'the rabbit in the moon' which carries the link with drunkenness, and thus of a humanity intoxicated with, for example, materialism, but in search of deeper satisfaction and contentment. In sharp contrast, the Moon's relationship to childbirth suggests a more positive outcome, perhaps the emergence of a new, sensitive and more cosmically conscious humanity. As the special witness of time, I, Pacal Votan, know the perfect count of days. I bow in the sanctuary of the tower and the rock, the sanctuary of
Bolon Ik. In my body, formed of the ultimate perfection of God's power of all movement and meansure (Hunab K'u), is the recollection that is prophecy. - Pacal Votan Pacal Votan was indeed 'the special witness of time,' whose name means "Closer of the Cycle" (meaning the Great Cycle of Time), as well as "shield," curiously. You see the description that he gives of his 'prophecy'... it is not a 'system,' but a 'recollection' that is the sum total of his 'body.' We are now 'closing a cycle,' and so... it would seem fitting for Pacal Votan, or one like him, to make an appearance at this time, don't you think? And, in your tradition, it is said that there are 'two witnesses,'- special witnesses, as Pacal Votan was a 'special witness.' It is an interesting correlation, at least, and because there is a correlation... I do expect a similar 'special witness' to come. After all, things are 'confirmed' by two witnesses; the testimony of the first is 'confirmed' by the testimony of the second. He was also known as the 'Magician of Time'... and communicated through a system of numbers that seems to have transcended traditional language. Now, if you will reflect briefly on the attempts to replace letters with numbers, and 'create' a new, or 'similar' system as Pacal Votan's... for reasons that we can only guess at, really... unfortunately, you will see that he said very clearly that he is the 'perfection of the measure,' which would seem to be another way of saying that 'you are the numbers,' and they operate in you, and through you, in a 'natural' way... just as enzymes and cells operate, without your conscious thought... after all, no man can change his stature by even an inch by 'taking thought.' Vines don't actually 'think' their way into a grape harvest, if you see what I mean... even if they are able to react to various 'random' occurrences, as well as seasonal-type 'triggers,' which initiate certain 'actions' on the part of the Vine. They just are, and they just do... as the 'need' arises. I believe that the 'vine' is adapting as the 'need has arisen'... It's the time of the season. Now, this part is interesting, I think, under the circumstances. The Kings of Palenque were practical men as well as men of faith. To help their ancestors ascend to the world of humankind, they created a physical path for the Vision Serpent to follow when a dead king wished to speak to his ancestors.In this case, it was an actual 'tube' that connected the burial vault with the upper world... like a 'hearing tube'... So, being 'practical men,' they knew that their ancestors, the dead kings, would speak with those in the upper world, through this 'Vision Serpent,' from their place in the 'under' world... they would come up through a 'tunnel'... And, in astrology, we have a new 'sign'... that of Ophiucus, the Serpent-handler... Perhaps it is the 'Vision Serpent' that he is handling... and he appears now as a 'Special Witness of Time'... he's not one of the 'regulars,' is he? Now, one of the most interesting of Pacal Votan's 'prophecies,' or 'thoughts of the future,' included mankind's 'evolution' at the end of this cycle... he believed that our DNA is not 'set in stone,' so to speak, but in process of evolution, which, if 'successful,' should produce new adaptions in various forms of 'telepathy,' and a general transformation of consciousness... which would make us, in all Truth... more human than human. That's right. However, much of this will depend on you, I think... what you can accept, what you truly wish for the future of us all, what you can imagine... and believe. The author's 'summary' to the chapter regarding Pacal Votan reads thusly: Pacal Votan's epigram, 'All is number. God is number. God is in all,' links with the name for the Mayan Absolute, Hunab K'u, the 'Giver of Movement and Measure.' The two concepts bind to suggest that mathematics, together with movement and measure, is the source of life. Balance, order, and harmony combine to be the expression of both the spiritual and physical life of the cosmos. The prophecy calls us to use personal, collective, and cosmic energy to transcend the materialism and techo-dominance of our age, to prepare for the problematic transition into the next World Age. Good morning to you all... should you happen to be here with me this morning. I have work again today, and didn't sleep nearly long enough last night... maybe I think too much. I doubt it. I would like to follow up the post regarding Pacal Votan with this message... it is my 'word' for this morning. Perhaps it will 'echo back' for you, too... Revelation number 10... 7 ...but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets. 8 Then the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, "Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land." 9 So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. The next of the Mayan 'prophecies' that I would like to speak of is The Prophecy of Transcending Technology; this will be interesting, since it is through the medium of 'technology' itself, that I will address the 'problem'... the paradox should be apparent. The solution to the problem is much less apparent... Katun 2 Ahau is the twelfth katun. For half the katun there will be bread; for half the katun there will be water. It is the word of God. Its bread, water and temple are halved. It is the end of the word of God.The first thing that struck me about this quote was its resemblance to the words of Jesus, which compared the Word of God to bread, and himself (or his body) to bread, and also the 'living water' that represents the Word of God... interestingly, the prophecy also has to do with a 'temple.' As to the 'message:' Katun 2 Ahau will be the first katun of the New Age following the winter solstice of 2012. The key to the prophecy is, 'It is the end of the word of God;' what sustains life, physically and spiritually, will be 'halved.' In previous 2 Ahau katuns, there have been widespread spiritual and ideological crises and this prophecy warns of another that is imminent. Its likely cause is the undermining of traditionally received spiritual authority by a technology that is displacing our natural human faculties. Thus, the prophecy warns of our need to transcend the all-consuming technocratic culture we have created.The author goes on... Moore's Law, first applied to the exponential increase of computer components, suggests that the rate of technological change will soon be close to being infinite, taking us towards a new concept called 'Singularity.' The Singularity Watch defines the concept as 'the rise of super intelligent life, created through the improvement of human tools by the acceleration of technological progress reaching the point of infinity.' The end product, however, is already with us in the form of 'spiritual machines.' robotics. and artificial intelligence that aims to be an organic extension of ourselves. Kubrick's '2001: A Space Odyssey,' famously told of the spacecraft computer, HAL, that had a mind of its own. This raises the somewhat threatening but critical question as to whether machines can attain consciousness. The Dalai Lama is on record as saying:
"I can't really rule out the possibility that, if all the external conditions and the karmic action were there, a stream of consciousness might actually enter into a comnputer. There is a possibility that a scientist who has very much involved his whole life (with computers), then, in the next life he would be reborn in a computer! Then this machine, which is half-human and half-machine, has been reincarnated. I feel this question about computers will be resolved only by time. We just have to wait and see... until it actually happens."
The prophecy warns that we have not begun to address the relationship between technology and spirituality. The scientist and ecologist Dr. Charles Birch has warned that "Our technological civilization has not adapted to the needs of survival... There is something radically wrong with the way that we are living on Earth today. The sort of society that we are building with the aid of science and technology has self-destructive features built into it."Now, what if the Dalai Lama were just a little bit off in his assessment, and it were not necessarily a 'reincarnation' of a 'soul' that entered into the 'computer/machine,' but a living 'spirit' that 'united' with the 'spirit' of the machine...? which would produce something more like a 'ghost in the machine,' if you see what I mean... in order to give the 'technology' a 'spirit' that is able to 'transcend' or 'overcome' its inherent self-destructive tendencies, and allow it to become an extension of the 'spiritual' experience, as a means of reaching out to countless other 'spirits' that are tuned in to the same 'frequency,' for instance... This is somewhat explained by the rest of the quote, which goes on to say: The prophecy implies that the proper response is for us to transcend this technology. It is helpful and encouraging to bear in mind that the root meaning of the Greek, 'techne,' was also used of the techniques of the artist, and that the philosopher, Heidegger, poignantly reminded us that there was "once a time when the bringing forth of the true into the beautiful was also called the techne."
