I've been meaning to open this part of the forum for a while now, but I wasn't quite sure where to start... there's a lot of ground to cover, it would seem. It includes history, and myth, and a little something for the future, if we can only manage to 'heal the Fisher King.'
The fact that it hasn't been accomplished yet seems to have something to do with the fact that former questors failed to ask, or answer, a most pertinent, and meaningful, question... (questors... questions...lol...) So, I thought that I might begin the thread with the answer to that particular question; I know Saxon would appreciate that, at least... him and his 'chivalry' and all...
The question was this... Whom does the Grail serve?
And the answer is this... The Grail serves 'God.'
And it does, you know... it is the 'vessel' which contains the never-ending abundance and grace of 'God,' and dispenses it to mankind... a sort of human 'horn of plenty,' so to speak... as the Grail has also been represented. A true 'fountain of living waters,' you see...? And the answer applies on other levels, as well... my friend will tell you that the 'grail' is a 'membrane' or 'cup' in your brain that serves a similar function, which I can well believe, really... after all, the Truth should apply equally well in all cases to which it is applied. An easy test...
At any rate, it is important to note that the Grail is also represented as a 'lance (or spear) tip,' and tantalizingly, it has been further noted that the lineage may extend to Solomon (this is interesting, due to the head of the calf that has been represented on the back of his throne, and the connection to 'calf worship' which was linked to Baal, and the most unfortunate 'law breaking' incident with Moses, which I'm going to get to later), and is possibly of Judaic origin. Ironic, don't you think...?
And speaking of irony, remember the 'Twilight Zone' episode that featured a book titled "To Serve Mankind?" Well, ironically, in this case... the 'Grail' is 'Serving' 'God.' Television wasn't all bad...
Baahahaha...
And now that we've answered that question, maybe we can get on with the rest of the play...
