Let's begin with Scotland's Rosslyn Chapel, and its very 'masonic' Apprentice Pillar, shall we? Now, why do they call it that? Beautiful, isn't it? There is, of course, a story... The master stonemason, so one legend goes, had received the design for a pillar. The carvings were so intricate that he was reluctant to begin work on it until he had travelled to Rome to see the original. While he was away, the mason's apprentice had a dream that he had finished the pillar. He set to work and by the time the master mason returned, the pillar was complete, a masterpiece of stonework. The mason was not pleased and killed the apprentice on the spot with a hammer-blow to the head.
The plain, fluted Master Pillar in the foreground with the elaborately-carved Apprentice Pillar behind Master and Apprentice Pillars (courtesy of Michael Turnbull)
The Apprentice Pillar (also called the 'Prentice Pillar or Prince's Pillar in earlier sources) is entwined with carved vines. Its architrave bears the Latin inscription forte est vinum, fortior est rex, fortiores sunt mulieres: super omnia vincit veritas, meaning "wine is strong, the king is stronger, women are stronger still: (but) truth triumphs over all".
Also to be found in the chapel are the carved heads of the master mason, the apprentice (complete with wounded head) and the apprentice's grieving mother.
Fascinating as this legend is, it is not unique to Rosslyn. The story of the Master and the Apprentice pillar is a cautionary tale told by the older craftsmen to the young apprentices to prevent them getting ideas above their station! 'Apprentice Pillars' and similar stories occur in many mediaeval churches, not only in Britain: there are gashed apprentice heads all over Europe.
The pillar in Rosslyn was made by an expert stonemason. No apprentice would have the skill to carve such a masterpiece.(Which tells me that the little apprentice evidently 'got his sheepskin,' and didn't even know it... lol...) www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/christianity/places/rosslynchapel_1.shtmlSerendipitously, the article goes on to say that: Almost everything we know about Rosslyn Chapel and the Sinclair family goes back to the historical records written down by Fr Richard Augustine Hay (1661-1736/7). Hay, baptised a Protestant, lost his father and his mother married into the still-Roman Catholic Sinclair family. Hay studied to be a priest at the Scots College in Paris and then was ordained as a priest in the Augustinian Order. Aside from preaching, celebrating Mass and hearing confessions, baptising, marrying and anointing the dying, taking funerals and all the other things priests might be expected to do, his great interest in life was making sure that precious family charters and their contents were preserved. He did this by copying charters and, as a member of the important Sinclair family, he was given privileged access to the private papers of his and other families. (And speaking of preserving old vines, it is said that the vines that garland the 'Apprentice Pillar' represent the DNA strand... the True Vine, so to speak... and that puts a whole new light on the 'Apprentice,' I would think... and Father Hay's interest in family histories; serendipitously, the Hay line ended up here in 'Cascadia,' as well... et in Arcadia/Cascadia ego? We're certainly big on rivers and streams... we even have a town named Coburg, I used to live there... on Pearl Street... lol... (true story) I see that Brother Peter Taylor even mentioned the illustrious Oregon Supreme Court Justice Hay in his own list... Hay... what do you know? More pictures... And, I thought that this was interesting, in light of its connections... Niven St.Clair has told us the story of how he and a number of others had conducted investigations both inside and outside of the building back in 1997. The year after The Hiram Key was published they had dug a number of investigative holes and found an underground passageway leading from the chapel, under Gardener's Brae to Rosslyn Castle some considerable distance away. Niven described the tunnel as being huge and very deep underground at the point where it enters under the foundations of Rosslyn.
The steps that go down from the main chapel to the crypt end on a modern floor but Niven tells how there is another flight of steep steps concealed beneath that floor, leading in the opposite direction back under the main building to a vault directly underneath the engrailed cross in the chapel roof.
According to Niven's information it was in this deep and centrally positioned vault that rituals of initiation with four levels or degrees were once conducted. He was not clear as to the nature of these initiations, saying that perhaps they were a secretly surviving strand of the Knights Templar or a proto-Masonic rite.
Niven described how the tunnel connects this vault with the castle. It leaves the hidden vault directly below the south door just feet from the carving of the candidate being initiated by means of a ritual that we have shown statistically to be connected to modern Freemasonry. At this point the passageway is three feet wide and five feet high where it emerges below the south door. Its roof is eight and a half feet below ground level. After a straight run of approximately twenty five feet the passage turns ninety degrees towards the east and drops down the hillside with its roof twelve and a half feet below ground level. The tunnel then continues under the field towards the castle.
We sketched the layout of the tunnel and vaults and as we did so we realised that we had heard this whole description of hidden chambers and secret tunnels before. The Fourteenth Degree of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, otherwise known as The Grand, Elect, Perfect and Sublime Mason identifies a subterranean passageway connecting Solomon's temple with his palace in Jerusalem, saying:
...King Solomon builded a secret vault, the approach to which was through eight other vaults, all under ground, and to which a long and narrow passage led from the palace. The ninth arch or vault was immediately under the Holy of Holies of the Temple. In that apartment King Solomon held his private conferences with King Hiram and Hiram Abif.
So, according to Masonic ritual there was an all important chamber underneath the Holy Temple which was connected to Solomon's palace. And Rosslyn also had a passageway connected to the 'palace' or residence of the 'Grand Master'.
The relationship between the two is remarkable. Here is yet more evidence that speaks of a connection between the Jerusalem Temple and Rosslyn, as well between Rosslyn and later Masonic ritual.www.knight-lomas.com/new_findings_at_rosslyn.htmlThe ninth arch, or gate, or vault... lies underground, in a 'Kingdom of Shadows,' if you will.

And then, there was this... which I found to be quite serendipitous, under the circumstances... In “Return to Rosslyn Chapel,” published in Atlantis Rising #48, I revealed my discovery of a Lorraine Cross encoded in Rosslyn’s five-course vaulted ceiling. Wayne Herschel, author of 2003′s “The Hidden Records,” has now added another layer to the mystery by claiming that a Vitruvian Man, a symbol made much of in Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code,” is also encoded there. His claim has led me to Rosslyn’s darkest secret.I had discovered the cross when, upon looking at the ceiling, I noticed that the architectural elements of the second and fourth courses looked uncomfortably crowded. As a trained graphic artist, whose job it is to bring visual order to chaos, I naturally wondered why.Pushing the crowding elements out to the left and right of the ceiling, until all of the elements were harmoniously spaced, revealed the two-barred Cross of Lorraine. While it is not within the scope of this article to repeat my theories about why a Lorraine Cross would be encoded there, it will be useful to keep in mind the following:
-It is upside down. The shorter bar, symbolizing the INRI sign put above the head of the crucified Christ, should be above the longer. -Today’s Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ) uses the same reverse-barred configuration in its official insignia, but does not say why. -An equal-barred Cross of Lorraine was the first insignia granted to the Knights Templar. In Dagobert’s Revenge, Boyd Rice says that the equal-barred cross represents “the union of opposites, the intersection of creative force and destructive force, or the union of male and female principles;” that the bar “above” mirrors the bar “below” and, as such, is symbolic of the Hermetic maxim, “as above, so below.”
A few months ago a friend sent me a link to a page on Wayne Herschel’s website which showed how Herschel had combined a modified version of Leonardo Da Vinci’s iconic Vitruvian Man with my graphic of Rosslyn’s Lorraine Cross. While the arms of Leonardo’s man are shown at both the 3- and 9-o’clock positions and the 2- and 10-o’clock positions, allowing him to graphically describe the proportional relationships of the human body to a circle and a square, Herschel had eliminated the 2- and 10-o’clock positions and added a 12-o’clock position, allowing him to show how human proportions relate to a pentagram. Herschel’s modification was based on a treatise that Leonardo was himself inspired by—a description of human proportions by ancient Roman architect Marcus Vitruvius Pollio.www.mythomorph.com/wp/rosslyn-chapels-darkest-secret/

While I have not the space to relate where Herschel’s path of inquiry takes him, the pentagram he described struck a resonant note along my own—and it was chilling.
When I had counted the relative numbers of architectural elements in each course of the ceiling and had revealed the upside-down Lorraine Cross, there were five elements left over which I took to symbolize a five-pointed star—which can of course be drawn within the five points of Herschel’s pentagram. And if the configuration of the cross is upside-down, then by turning it rightside-up the five-pointed star and the star course turn with it.
In Manly P. Hall’s 1928 book, 'The Secret Teachings of All Ages,' Hall claims “when the upright star turns and the upper point falls to the bottom, it signifies the fall of the Morning Star.”
The disturbing significance of this will soon become clear.
I had also noticed a curious mistake in the order of the stars in Rosslyn’s star course. Instead of forming a perfect checkerboard, the sixth and seventh rows faced each other, thereby reversing that order. I then suggested that this reversal was meant to symbolize a day that many far-flung world mythologies say “the sky fell,” a day of cataclysm that Christians are taught to believe was the biblical flood, unleashed upon the peoples of Earth, by God Almighty, as punishment for their wickedness.
Could it be that the upside-down Lorraine Cross, Herschel’s Vitruvian Man in the pentagram, and the mistake in the order of the stars in Rosslyn’s ceiling were meant to act in concert to symbolize, for those with eyes to see, the darkest secret in the worldwww.mythomorph.com/wp/rosslyn-chapels-darkest-secret/I see a great possibility of a 'reversal of fortunes,' myself... and the turn of a friendly card, maybe...

Well check this sweet thang ... *smooches* The center pole is 22x8=880 + 22x3=66 = 946. 9x4x6=216 Then the arms 8x22=176 + 8x10=80 = 256 - 40 = 216 or 2x5x6=60 2x1x6=12x6x0=720/2=360 720x2=1440 720x4=2880 Once again I'm thinking encoded time/space/mass/distance/frequency/solar/lunar measurements. Theres a definite lunar solar code in there probably triggered by the blood moon phenomenon. Off to chipherville again lolol

Well, good morning to you, if you're out there, somewhere... I've been meaning to answer your very astute replies to this post, but somewhere between 'work' and 'Work,' it seems as if I never have enough Time to do all of the things 'at hand.' The Truth is that there are several appropriate replies that I might make, but I finally settled on something from the Sefer Yetzirah that I felt was particularly applicable to the subject at hand... I think you'll find this rather 'enlightening,' unless of course, you've already been studying up on this particular subject, and I can't help thinking that (in light of some of the comments that have been posted here and there) you have. Nevertheless, I'm going to throw it out there, because the importance of these things will become apparent, once you have reached an 'understanding' of the 'work' that we are embarked upon. To begin with, let's take the 5 sections of the 'upright,' which are divided into 22 horizontal squares, and 8 vertical squares, laid out in a 'checkerboard' pattern of black and white, or perhaps, positive and negative, since we know that both of these energies are required, in order to complete our 'work.' According to the Sefer Yetzirah, there is a five-dimensional continuum which is defined thusly: Three dimensions of 'space,' the fourth dimension of 'time,' and a fifth dimension, which is spiritual. The term 'Universe' applies to space, 'Year' to time, and 'Soul' to the spiritual dimension, and these three 'levels' correspond to the three 'books' that form the basis of creation,- the 'Sefirah.' (The word 'Sefirah' is interesting in itself... the Hebrew word for 'book' is Sepher, which shares the same root as Sephira, with the former being 'masculine' and the latter being 'feminine'). These three books are said to be "text, number, and communication;" again, the Hebrew word for 'text' (Sepher) which means 'book,' 'number' (Sephar), from whence we derive the English word 'cipher,' and 'communication' (Sippur), which means 'telling.' These represent quality, quantity, and communication... the letters, numbers, and the way in which they are used. Remember now our 'triptych?' Interesting, don't you think? So, we might consider that these five squares apply to the five-dimensions which must be 'mastered;' there is a smaller sixth rectangle below the five squared 'dimensions' (they can be 'defined' or 'squared'), which I believe represents 'Crown' or 'Kether,' which is beyond definition... this level is above our own mental concepts, and so... cannot be 'squared,' by ordinary means. So that is the Five, with the 'sixth;' now, as to the 22 in connection with this bit of information... the 'work' of the Initiate is to 'bring into existence' 'substance out of chaos' or, One might say Ordo ab chao... the word 'chaos' defining a state of mental static, in which all is in a state of 'possibility,' with nothing clearly defined. Now, do you begin to understand? When One reaches a certain level of 'adeptness,' One can actually make something "that actually IS" (yeshno), or "existence." He can actually bring about results in the universe of Asiyah (making), which can then be reflected in the physical world. The Sefer Yetzirah then describes a 'sign' through which One knows that he has achieved this state... a sign for this thing, 22 objects in a single body, is the sign that the initiate has completed this discipline and fully 'mastered' it. Therefore, the 'master' number 22, which is further divided in the upright illustrated, 11 on the left side, and 11 on the right, with the number 11 itself being another 'master' number. It is therefore my contention, my thesis, if you Will, that this particular Cross of Lorraine, superimposed by a human body, which describes the circular nature of 'God,' is a sign... the website that I quoted earlier believes that it is a sign of 'cataclysm,' and perhaps, in a matter of speaking, it is... If you see what I mean... I have much more to say on this subject, but for now, I will leave you with another illustration from the ceiling of the Rosslyn Chapel, which was on the same website (worth checking out, I think, for the information)... notice that there are four symbols... sun, moon (so-called, but I think I see 'flames' or something moving to the left), dove, and a man's head with a raised hand alongside. The angle described between the sun and moon is given as 23.3 (the Masons say .5, but I have a feeling that it's actually .3) degrees... totally Masonic, I'm afraid... Now, I have a lot more to 'tell' about this, but right now, I have another 'word' in mind... so I'll leave you to contemplate this for a bit... .

Oh, and about the 8 vertical squares... EIGHT - Denotes resurrection, regeneration; a new beginning or commencement. The eighth is a new first. Hence the octave in music, color, days of the week. It is the number which has to do with the Lord, Who rose on the eighth, or new "first-day".Among other things...

Now, let's take a short detour, and re-visit one of the carvings that I've posted a photo of, in one of the previous posts; they refer to this particular carving as representing 'Lucifer.' So, what's a 'fallen angel' like you doing in a nice chapel like this...? One might wonder... As I've re-introduced the first engraving in the series, as 'Parzival,' I think that I should re-introduce another engraving... and this one looks kind of familiar, too... That sword looks very much like a flaming bush to me... and if I re-call things 'rightly,' that's where everything was turned upside-down... Quite the reversal of fortunes...

Now, let us repair to another symbol engraved into the 'chapel-book'... something a little bit more 'familiar,' perhaps... or perhaps not. Let's see if we recognize this One... This representation is better known as the 'Agnes Dei,' or 'Lamb of God'... Behold, the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the World...The 'lamb' is shown to be white-fleeced, mostly, to denote 'innocence,' I suppose; but white, as with roses, has its own meaning... Their pure color conveys respect, pays homage to new starts and expresses hope for the future. Historically, the white rose symbolized innocence and purity, which is how it became associated with weddings and bridal bouquets; innocence, truth, humility, silence, secrecy. Well, that seems 'straightforward' enough, but what if the lamb isn't exactly 'white?' What if it turns out to be a 'black sheep?' Like these... This group of illustrations, or 'illuminations,' if you Will, is taken from a book known as the Bamberg Apocalypse; we can look at that again later on. For now, notice that not only are two of the lambs 'black,' but that two of the lambs hold a 'book,'- the white lamb's book is closed, or 'sealed,' perhaps, and the book of the second, or 'black' sheep is now open, or definitely 'unsealed.' I find that to be rather... provocative, myself. Contemplate that for a moment, while I add one more little coal to the fire, so to speak; this one, I will take from our old Friend, Paracelsus, as given in his prognostications; unfortunately, the 'application' for that is somewhat 'locked up' at the moment, and we'll have to save that for the present... Never forgetting, all the while, that the first creature to be 'sacrificed,' or 'give its blood' (innocent blood, mind you) to cover your own shortcomings... was a lamb. Alice figured that out, too... Rather curious, All in All, wouldn't you say...?

All right, here we go (again) with the 'goodie' from Paracelsus; I lost the first attempt to post this, so... This is the image as it is given, with the text following: The Twenty-Ninth Figure
'Thus shall it come to pass that each one will be led into its own pasture. For feeding in strange pasture causeth distress, contention, and misery in this world. As soon as each one cometh into its own stall there shall be unity. For the mouth becometh depraved, feeding according to its lust as it pleaseth the jaws; all that cometh of going into strange pastures. How blessed shall be the hour, and the poverty, that will come and shall ordain each one to its meadow, not far from the year XXXXIII.'All we're missing are the red shoes... Dancing shoes, if you ask me... Psalm 23{A Psalm of David.} The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
May 'God' bless the reading of the Word...

Since there is someone reading here, let me give you this... in relation to the eight-spoked wheel that graces the tombstone of de St. Clair... I believe that it represents the same eight-pointed star that is shown at Oak Island... and which is thought to have been left by ancient Phoenicians, and has, perhaps, even, connections to the 'Ark.' At any rate, the eight-pointed star is the symbol given to the Sumerian Inanna... you remember her... she went to hell and back... lolol... Thank you for coming...
