Christianity interprets the city as a physical reconstruction, spiritual restoration, or divine recreation of the city of Jerusalem. It is also interpreted by many Christian groups as referring to the Church to be the dwelling place of the saints.
John of Patmos describes the New Jerusalem in the Book of Revelation in the Christian Bible, and so the New Jerusalem holds an important place in Christian eschatology and Christian mysticism, and has also influenced Christian philosophy and Christian theology. Such a renewal of Jerusalem, if a reconstruction, is an important theme in Judaism, Christianity, and the Bahá'í Faith. Renewed Jerusalem bears as its motto the words Ad librum (Latin: "as by the book..."
The term 'New Jerusalem' occurs twice in the New Testament, in verses 3:12 and 21:2 of the Book of Revelation. A large portion of the final two chapters of Revelation deals with John of Patmos' vision of the New Jerusalem. He describes the New Jerusalem as "'the bride, the wife of the Lamb'", where the river of the Water of Life flows (22:1).
After John witnesses the new heaven and a new earth "that no longer has any sea", an angel takes him "in the Spirit" to a vantage point on "a great and high mountain" to see the New Jerusalem's descent. The enormous city comes out of heaven down to the New Earth. John's elaborate description of the New Jerusalem retains many features of the Garden of Eden and the paradise garden, such as rivers, a square shape, a wall, and the Tree of Life.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jerusalem GL... mountain... It would seem that in some 'points' at least, the New Jerusalem can still be compared to the Crest... however, we now find gates at the former points of termination... which 'points' might realistically portray 'gates' anyway. At this time, they appear to be closed... According to John, the New Jerusalem is "pure gold, like clear glass" and its "brilliance [is] like a very costly stone, as a stone of crystal-clear jasper." The street of the city is also made of "pure gold, like transparent glass". The base of the city is laid out in a square and surrounded by a wall made of jasper. It says in Revelation 21:16 that the height, length, and width are of equal dimensions - as were the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle and First Temple - and they measure 12,000 furlongs which is approximately 1500.3 miles). John writes that the wall is 144 cubits, which is assumed to be the width since the length is mentioned previously. 144 cubits are about equal to 65 meters, or 72 yards. It is important to note that 12 is the square root of 144. The number 12 was very important to early Jews and Christians, representing the 12 tribes of Israel and 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ. The four sides of the city represented the four cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West). In this way, New Jerusalem was thought of as an inclusive place, with gates accepting all of the 12 tribes of Israel from all corners of the earth.
There is no temple building in the New Jerusalem. God and the Lamb are the city's temple, since they are worshiped everywhere. Revelation 22 goes on to describe a river of the water of life that flows down the middle of the great street of the city from the Throne of God. The tree of life grows in the middle of this street and on either side, or in the middle of the street and on either side of the river. The tree bears twelve fruits, or kinds of fruits, and yields its fruit every month. According to John, "The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." This inclusion of the tree of life in the New Jerusalem harkens back to the Garden of Eden. The fruit the tree bears may be the fruit of life.
John states that the New Jerusalem will be free of sin. The servants of God will have theosis, and "His name will be on their foreheads." Night will no longer fall, and the inhabitants of the city will "have need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light." John ends his account of the New Jerusalem by stressing its eternal nature: "And they shall reign forever and ever."Read more: innerchamber.proboards.com/thread/631/house-light?page=4#ixzz2dVxubcdf

I would just like to add something here, on the subject of Thomas Vaughan... I found this to be rather illuminating, myself. Vaughan regarded himself as a philosopher of nature, and although he certainly sought the universal solvent, his published writings deal rather with magic and mysticism than with technical alchemy. They also contain much controversy with Henry More the Platonist. Vaughan was called a Rosicrucian, but denied the imputation. He wrote or translated Anthroposophia Theomagica (1630); Anima Magica Abscondita (1650); Magia Adamica and (1650); The Man-Mouse taken in a Trap (1650); The Second Wash; or the Moor Scoured once more (1651); Lumen de Lumine and Aphorisimi Magici Eugeniani (1651); The Fame and Confession of the Fraternity of R.C. (1652); Aula Lucis (1652); Euphrates (1655); Nollius' Chymist's Key (1657); A Brief Natural History (1669). Most of these pamphlets appeared under the pseudonym of Eugenius Philalethes.
Vaughan was probably, although it is by no means certain, not the famous adept known as Eirenaeus Philalethes, who was alleged to have found the philosopher's stone in America, and to whom the Introitus Apertus in Occlusum Regis Palatium (1667) and other writings are ascribed.
In 1896 Vaughan was the subject of an amazing mystification in the Mémoires d'une ex-Palladiste. These formed part of certain alleged revelations as to the practice of devil-worship by the initiates of freemasonry. The author, whose name was given as Diana Vaughan, claimed to be a descendant of Thomas and to possess family papers which showed amongst other marvels that he had made a pact with Lucifer, and had helped to found freemasonry as a Satanic society. The inventors of the hoax, which took in many eminent Catholic ecclesiastics, were some unscrupulous Paris journalists. www.nndb.com/people/775/000104463/Oh, Diana... Diana... now, that sounds familiar. And the claim to be a descendant of someone... oh, right... I wonder if she was also related to dear Jack Parsons... which would make her a parson, I suppose... of sorts... Well, never mind... it was just a diversion... The point being, I suppose, that some things never change. Read more: innerchamber.proboards.com/thread/631/house-light?page=4#ixzz2dW8HKPTu

It seems that the 'temptation' to be 'merciful' is much more difficult for most men than the 'temptation' to be 'terrible,' instead... I'm not sure why. Did you get a chance to read Psalm 91 yet...? I did. And happily, there is no need for me to fear the 'terrible'... no need at all. You see... ' I know now that the shadow comes from the Light'... He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.Read more: innerchamber.proboards.com/thread/631/house-light?page=5#ixzz2dW8qRIeL

For those of you who don't 'know' me in this 'mask,' it is the administrator... Goldenfleeced... I just decided to post under this 'name' for a bit, while I let 'Goldenfleeced' ride... lol...
Anyway, this may be a good time to revive this subject, since we have yet to explain our notions of a 'House of Light,'- and believe me, I have some. To begin with, what is a 'house' but our 'body' here... and we have seen how, even as far as being 'electric' in nature, we do actually inhabit a 'body of light.' But further, I believe that it refers to a specific 'house' of 'Light'...
And now, we can get into the subject of 'genetic memory' that my friend has raised on previous occasions... and how one might be 'reborn,' so to speak, through 'genetic memory,' perhaps... it is a most 'provocative' subject, really, since I believe that we actually were 'more human than human' then... in truth. And the truth is, humanity (as a collective) has become degraded... in every way. I don't think I need to say much more about that, do I...? And sadly, most of it was perpetrated upon you... in the name of 'God' and 'progress.' Science...
The truth is... you are all 'godlike productions.' So am I... my initials are GDL... I laugh about that often, truthfully... but it serves to remind me...
And I 'remember' more... it's all in there...
And something inside me keeps saying, It's time to wake up...

So, we come back to our 'Royal Arch,' or Hirams (or Shamir, perhaps), with the garland of the 'winner,' and a heart... the symbol of the sons of Levi... and Levi brings us back to the sons of Korah... and the sons of Korah bring us back to... the sons of 'God' and a House of Light...
From the 'darkness'... oh, let there be Light...
And true transformation.
And so mote it be...
