The Story that Matters...

I decided to open this thread with an editorial of my own... it's been a while, but I put this here, in the hope that I would someday be inspired to take it up again, even if I'm only talking to myself. And that's just how it feels sometimes... and that would bother me, except... I've enjoyed a particularly lengthy history of talking to myself so far, and well... it probably doesn't hit me as hard as it would you, say... You get used to it, I guess... lol...
Anyway, to get back to the point, I decided that this would be the proper forum for a response to a 'signature' line that I read on a blogsite a couple of days ago; the line was,- Only Stories Matter. I 'resonated' with that (lol), because, as a reporter and writer (not to mention the time that I've put in as a bartender, mother, partner, and just a human being), you can't begin to imagine the stories that I've heard, personally... not to mention the ones that I've heard 'second-hand.' Mind-boggling... absolutely mind-boggling.
People are extremely creative, in their being and essence, and the products of their imagination are reflected in various ways... art, music, and literature, which we could very properly term 'storytelling.' This is not wrong... and, as a matter of fact, it is exactly what makes the World 'bloom,' spiritually; it makes everything beautiful. Personally, I love to tell the stories... and even more than that, I love to hear the stories; all of the stories... I have enjoyed them all. But, in the end, they are only stories, really... and they don't really matter at all. It was, after all, only make-believe... like the monster in your closet. Now, if you prefer to believe that there is a monster in your closet, that is certainly your prerogative, as a storyteller, but... it is only your monster. Not mine.
You see, in my story, the monster is a cat... a grinning cat, maybe... you know... and it is laughing at you, for believing it to be so 'monstrous.' And you will tell me that your 'story' is your 'truth' (since you find cats to be particularly odious, say), and I will tell you that my 'story' is closer to the 'truth,' and we would both be wrong, since the Truth... the 'absolute' Truth... is that there is fleece jacket with an open zipper hanging in the closet, and while it was no 'monster,' neither was it exactly a grinning cat, even if it was as harmless.
So, what really matters is the Truth... otherwise, you might spend the night in fear of a jacket, and I might rather be cold than wrap a grinning cat around my shoulders, say... but the point of it is, that you need the 'absolute' Truth in order to make a rational assessment of the situation before you... and then, to make a decision as to what to do about it. If you are not provided with that basic information, the rest of the 'game' is 'queered,'- there is no way that I could have made a decision based on all of the possible outcomes, based on things as they are, in Truth. And neither can you... and Justice cannot be done, for either one of us. And with that in mind, I don't care what your 'story' is... I'd just like to know the Truth.
I have decisions to make... every day. Big ones, sometimes,- smaller ones more often, but they all impact on my life, and the lives of everyone involved with the decisions that I just made. Think about that. Your 'story' may have changed someone's life... for better, or worse. If it was the Truth, then the consequences (whatever they may be) are more tolerable; to know that fortunes were lost on a 'story' must be rather bitter... no matter which side of the fence you were standing on. And, relative to all of this, is something bigger than all of this, which is...
The Absolute Truth. In the end, it is the only thing that will Stand, and all else is doomed to failure, as it is an 'artificial construct.' But that's another subject... right, H(Al)? Lol... Oh, brother...
Now, see how times have changed? I never 'smiled' in an editorial column before... it's kind of 'nice,' don't you think? Lolol...
The Truth Matters... please listen to this...
...one may read a long argument, reminding one of a speech in Congress, delivered by one of the Brothers at a Council held in El Amarna on June 8, 1202 BC, in which he reassures all present that the "stars shew naught but trial, and test, by air, fire, and water, which we hold to be the elements of the crucible from which the precious stone will bring forth its own." And again: "who among us will rise and predict defeat for that which our Masters have labored for 29 cycles (two hundred years)? Is not this Truth? Are we not assembled in Truth? Are we not living Truth? And, can Maat ever die? Is not transition the gateway of progress? And can the crucible do more than bring about a physical and spiritual transition, a transmutation, of the principles for which we have pledged our lives?
From Complete History of the Rosicrucian Order by H Spencer Lewis, 1929
I have a post to make in this regard, specifically, later on, but for now... the reason that I take such a vehement stand against the 'stories' is that we cannot base our future on a 'story' any longer; only the Absolute Truth is going to stand when everything is shaken down.
Doubt it not, Virginia...
That felt good...
